Mother’s skirts are long and silky and precious. She smooths them with open palms when I wrap my arms around her.
Juliet wants to play soldiers. Her hair is a halo, lit from above. But I don’t like soldiers.
Butler is a mountain above me, except when he sits on the carpet beside me. I wobble on his thigh to look into his eyes.
Mother yells when I climb on the table.
Juliet has eyes shaped like Butler’s. Mother’s lips are pink. Father hides my eyes above his nose. |
